Student: but Mistress, when you say ‘be someone new’ what are you thinking of exactly?

Me: well that depends. If you have excellent mental and physical health, a clear vision for the future, a good career and an active intellectual life… you can choose whoever you want to be.

Student: what if I don’t really have any of those things, Mistress?

Me: Then I choose for you. You become what I make you…

Student: (nervous) and what were you thinking of making me, Mistress?

Me: see the photo below. It’s just a rough draft, but…

First let’s talk about sequencing: the video begins with two beautiful girls (from Uruguay in case you’re wondering). Then comes another, and you are like ‘OK three beautiful Latin girls,’ and then another one. And you’re like… “come on they cannot have a friend group where everybody is beautiful” Then, I don’t know if you noticed, but the front girl looks to the side… and it turns out she’s looking for someone else because…
… then the pièce de résistance artivrs… chic, drop dead gorgeous blonde 😂

 Why students should take note…

Basically, boss-girl at the front had a vague idea of what she wanted to do, communicated it effectively (even though everyone was getting ready and focused on other things), and executed within 180 seconds.

It’s seamless, natural, and each participant oozes character and style. I mean, when number 5 appears she doesn’t even bother dancing: she just sticks her head in and somehow steals the whole show.

The second video, by contrast, took various takes and although blonde boss-girl is smiling, all the joy has been squeezed out. Probably there was tension about who was positioned where and who was doing what. It just doesn’t have the power of the first video.

The 1-take girl

Video 1 is made by a 1-take girl who just tries stuff out with her camera. If it works, it does; if it doesn’t, so what – she uploads it anyway or deletes it. And 1-take girl doesn’t require a rigid definition, because it’s just one manifestation of a central fact about this type of girl: she’s confident and comfortable with herself…

…and is only willing to do so much for attention!

And it’s nothing new…

In 1528, Baldassare Castiglione published The Book of the Courtier.  The quality prized above all was sprezzatura – a studied nonchalance, the art of doing difficult things so easily that the effort never shows. Five hundred years ago, that was the highest form of cool. It still is.

 the EFF paradigm…

…Effortless, Flawless, Fearless.

Now I’d like to share with you an urgent public information message that was delivered to all girls in the Six Beach Area area yesterday…

bunny lines: the little diagonal creases on the bridge of the nose that show up when you scrunch it, like a rabbit twitching its nose. They come from the nasalis muscle. The expression itself is usually just called a nose scrunch. Dermatologists sometimes Botox bunny lines away, which is dumb cos they’re the cutest part of the face.
The ultimate classic for a 6 beach girl: I know what you did last Summer. Truth is, I Don’t know what you did last Summer but I know what you’re going to do this summer… Come to six Beach 🤗

If you’ve been exploring the Six Beach City website, you may have noticed the long vertical menu item that warns you off in Spanish when you touch it. It’s connected to the mysterious Missionary Sisters of Karnassus. Watch this space!

OK guys, I have a really weird idea. While I was sorting out pics for the new site, I went back through photos from around 2020, and it struck me that we all just seemed… sexier then?

Is this just my own decline from my 20s into my 30s 😂 or is there something to it? Here are three sample pics, from 2019, 2020 and 2021. Tell me what you think.

Oh my God I realize this is the second time in a week I’ve mentioned my age. This, combined with the fact I just found this meme and really related to it means there’s definitely something going on. OK I’m going to distract you all with something random… First some Greek hip hop, And then some Greek poetry.

🤔 If Sappho wasn’t actually a lesbian, she got a pretty bad deal. Her name gave us “sapphic”, and her home island, Lesbos, gave us “lesbian”. To be fair, her poems are full of longing for women, so it’s not a huge stretch.

The real losers were the islanders. In 2008, some of them took a gay rights group to court to win back the word “lesbian” for the people of Lesbos. They lost.
